Why Is It Important To De-Stress?

5 Easy Ways To De-Stress
As you can see from the video, stress can be life changing. So make sure that you start using these ways to de-stress now! Like the sign above. Recognise that you are feeling stressed and go in the direction of Relax instead.
1) Exercise
Exercise is by far the easiest way to de-stress. Not only can you do this for free, but there are so many other benefits of exercise, you would be silly not to give it a go. You do not have to be Usain Bolt or Mo Farah. A gentle walk can be effective to de-stress you and make you feel better straight away. Look at the article below for some ideas on gentle exercise, that we can all do.

2) Meditation
Many of us think Meditation is for hippies that drink green tea! This is not true, anybody can meditate, it does not have to seem complicated or long. Set 5-10 minutes aside each day and go somewhere quiet. Sit still and relax. If any stressful thoughts come to you, push them away gently in your mind. Practice this on regular basis and you will start looking as happy as this frog, when he meditates.
3) Organise Time For You
We all have busy diaries, with loads of things we need to fit in every day. But it is important not to forget about you! Make sure that every day, you set aside some time for you. Block it in your diary and stick to it. 30 minutes of you time, doing something you enjoy or doing nothing…do what you want to do!
4) Smile
Smiling is something that is always forgotten. Do a quick test right now. Smile. Notice how you feel…automatically your body relaxes and you feel better inside. Now make an angry, stressed face. Feel the difference? Next time you feel stressed, no matter where you are, smile… breathe and relax.
5) Get More Sleep
Once again, this is something we always say we are going to do, but we never do. Stop watching that “next episode” on Netflix, before you go to bed. Use that time wisely instead and go to sleep. In order for your body and mind to function, it needs enough sleep. Give it the sleep it needs and feel refreshed the next day.
So what are you waiting for? Take charge of your stress, before it takes charge of you!
